Marius migrated from South Africa in 2008 and commenced working at the Gold Coast City Council as senior Urban Planner. He resigned in 2017 to pursue other interests.
He has been awarded Masters Degrees in Urban & Regional Planning and Environmental Management by the University of Stellenbosch, one of the oldest and most renown universities in South Africa. He received a Masters in Business Administration from Chifley Business School Australia. He has been elected as a Registered Planner of the Planning Institute of Australia.
Marius and his wife Lee are passionate about nature and pets. The family currently lives next to a nature reserve. As part of his passion, he actively promotes responsible pet ownership. In pursuing this challenge the family commenced with designing and manufacturing of unique cat run systems that are affordable to all pet owners. They hope to improve pet-owner bonding, pet health and the reduction of bird mortality.
His other interest is traditional Goju Ryu Karate, and more specifically the study of the relationship between hard physical training and the development of self-motivation and a positive attitude to continuous improvement. As a martial art practitioner, his personal approach to leadership is reflected by the acronym REAL - Respect, Empathy, Appreciation, Live your Vision.
